This year, once again, I spent Christmas in both my parent’s and in-laws house. Because my wife Sol and I are from the same town, we can’t avoid having Christmas dinner twice, we have to do it in order not hurt any feelings. Of course, nothing I’m complaining about, as I’m always willing to taste some more, specially if it is good food
But despite all this, this time, Christmas celebration was a little bit different because my daughter Diana, who is 2 years old, now has a much better understanding of what it means to expect a toy in Christmas. And not only Diana, because my 2 brothers, my sister Katy and one of my wife’s sisters also have kids about the same age as Diana, all the kids were going crazy and were very anxious to open the gift boxes.
The similarity in ages of my baby daughter and her cousins, also brought a lot of fights among them as each one wanted what the other had gotten for Christmas, so it was very fun see them cry and fight for their toys.
My elder daughter, Ana Paula, was a different case, she is a little bit more mature now and I’m very happy to see her grow. She helped my mother prepare a cake for my brother Felipe who happens to have his birthday on the 24th of December and she also helped my sister-in-law with the Christmas dinner at Sol’s house.
Today in the afternoon, we are heading to my parent’s country house for a small birthday celebration for my brother Felipe, who is now 33 years old. My dad wanted to prepare a small party for him, as it is very likely that this is the last Christmas we are all together as my sister Kathy will have to move to Mérida, Yucatán with his husband in January of next year.
I hope everyone has had a great Christmas!
