Days 7,8 & 9 of 30 Day Challenge

Last night I went through the days 7 through 9 of Ed Dale’s “30 day challenge”. I decided to study as much videos as possible and not to take one lesson by day. The reason is that I already have some experience with Internet Business, so I think I can catch up very quickly on the topics and then save precious time so I can take action as soon as possible. Maybe if I was just starting out on the Internet Marketing stuff, it would be a good idea to take one lesson per day.

On Day 7, I learned what was a good number in terms of websites competing for a search term in Google. This is a great tip, as I’ve never had a clear understanding of what was a good number to go. You know, every time you search for something in Google, you usually find millions of web pages, but this number has no meaning to must of us if you don’t know what you are doing. Now I know that a good number of pages competing is below 35,000 for the phrase match term (in quotes).

I also learned how to place a cool WordTracker plugin for my FireFox browser that saves me time when searching for key phrases.

Day 8: Oh boy, the leason learned here is priceless!. I was literally shocked when I saw how the tutorial showed a way to determine with a good grade of accuracy, the real Google traffic for a search term using Google Trends. I almost would say that the whole “30 day challenge” training is worth the time just for the lesson learned on this day. Amazing stuff and a very clever way of determining whether a keyword phrase has a good amount of traffic or not. Only someone that has already reached a top position in Google would be able to do what the tutorial explains, I’m glad that Dale and his partner had shared this tip with us.

Day 9: Here I learned the magic number for Internet Marketing which is “200″. This number is the number of visitors to make a single sale. In other words, if I understand correctly, Dale is talking about a conversion rate of 0.5% which is very conservative. Dale is correct that if you know for sure that a certain key phrase on the top Google position, is going to bring you 500 visitors a day, then applying this conversion rate of 0.5%, means that you would do 2.5 sales in a day, and if each sale is bringing you a profit of $5 dollars, we would’ve won the challenge in one day.

On a side note I noticed that Dale is using Bloglines as a tool for staying on top of several topics at the same time. I don’t remember having seen how we set that up, so maybe I need to go back and review past videos.
