I’m about half way of finishing reading the book “Tribes” of Seth Godin and I read something that really got my attention. I plan on writing a full review of the book once I finish it but for now, I’d like to focus in only one thing and that is the Power of Faith.
Faith is the strong believe that something can and will happen. Faith is a force that leads to hope and it overcomes fear and makes things possible, but faith is demonstrated by the actions we take not what we say we believe in.
To illustrate this point, Seth Godin uses the example of the rock climbers Chris Sharma and Obe Carrion. These two guys climb rock faces using only their hands but since I had never seen how this sport is practiced, I went on to YouTube and did a searche for their names. Oh boy, I’m glad I did it, you really have to see what these guys do to understand the point of the book. These guys do things that would be impossible to do for people like me, but they have faith in what they do and then they just do it.

Chris Sharma is able to do a dyno rock face one hundred feet above ground because he has faith that it’ll work out okay. If you watch kids learning how to dyno, you’ll see that the secret to developing the skill isn’t about building their muscles or learning some exotic technique . It is merely about developing the faith that it’ll work. “Merely” of course, is a huge step. It’s nothing but a few neurons’ worth of faith, just the knowledge that you can do it.
